The new biography of the most famous environmental hero!
A price on his head from the Taiwanese mafia, his name placed on an Interpol Red Notice, an arrest in Germany from which he slipped away in 2012 with dyed hair and a Hawaiian shirt on his back, a new arrest in July 2024 in Greenland while en route to intercept a Japanese factory whaling ship... No, this is not the script for the latest 007 movie, but a few of the events that have punctuated the eventful life of Paul Watson. The man named by Time magazine as one of the twenty greatest environmental heroes of the 20th century is not done making headlines.
Seeking to annihilate the organization, Japan only succeeded in one thing: strengthening the determination of the captain and his crew. "Operation Zero Tolerance" intended to send whalers home from the Antarctic, "GrindStop" to end the slaughter of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands, the "Icefish" campaign aimed at dismantling poachers in the Southern Ocean, "Anti-Captivity" to put an end to the imprisonment of animals in marine parks... Sea Shepherd, the guardian of the seas, is undoubtedly the most combative ocean defense organization in the world and fully intends to remain so.
In this new edition, Paul Watson and Lamya Essemlali look back at his ousting from Sea Shepherd Global and the behind-the-scenes details of his arrest in Greenland, which sparked support demonstrations of unprecedented scale around the world.
