In 1978, Paul Watson acquired his first ship, christened Sea Shepherd, which was used during the first campaign to oppose the hunting of baby seals. This animal is featured to highlight the birth of the movement.
Beside it, the whale appears as an almost mythical entity: mistress of the oceans, ancestral spiritual guide, it embodies foresight, wisdom, and the memory of life, accompanying the struggle for the preservation of the marine world. It symbolizes the need for global protection of ecosystems and species.
